Who is required to obtain a Cigarette Dealer's License?
Anyone who sells or transports cigarettes within Montgomery County must obtain a yearly Cigarette Dealer's License from the Montgomery County Auditor's office.
Licenses are to be renewed annually between the 3rd Monday in April and the 3rd Monday in June. The dealer only needs to fill out a brief registration form and pay the annual fee. Licenses are good for a one year period that runs from the 4th Monday in May to the 4th Monday in May of the next year. Once issued, the license number and the information about the business establishment is permanently filed in the county's records. Licenses bought after the 3rd Monday in June are subject to prorating and can only be purchased at the offices of the Montgomery County Auditor. The form is available online and can be mailed to the Montgomery County Auditor's Office at 451 West Third St., Dayton, Ohio 45422.
If you are transferring an existing Cigarette License, you can only do so at the offices of the Montgomery County Auditor for a one-dollar fee. The original license is required at that time.
Where do I get a Cigarette License?
Cigarette Dealer's licenses may only be purchased at the County Auditor's office, or by mail. The application form is available below and can be printed out and sent to Karl L. Keith, Montgomery County Auditor, Cigarette Licensing, 451 West Third St., Dayton, Ohio 45422 with the licensing fee.

It is illegal to possess, for sale in Ohio, any brand not listed on this site. Also, it is unlawful to purchase tobacco products from an unlicensed manufacturer or importer.
